Community Supported Agriculture is an arrangement between farmers and community members who work together to share the responsibility of producing fresh, local food. Community members support the farm by paying an annual membership fee in exchange for a share of the harvest throughout the growing season. The arrangement guarantees the farmer financial support while the members are assured a wide variety of vegetables harvested at their peak of ripeness and nutritional value. (Owner/Opperator Mary von Krusenstiern pruning tomatoes. Photo by Diane Paddys) Neighborhood Harvest's CSA depends on the partnership between the farm and its CSA members. Your pre-payment and commitment to receiving a weekly box of vegetables allows the farm to invest in what we need to make the growing season a success. The growing season begins long before spring; beginning in the fall and continuing through the winter and spring I am busy repairing infrastructure and working the soil in addition to purchasing the bulk of the seeds, potting soil, organic soil amendments, irrigation lines and attachments, row cover, and other necessary growing supplies.
